In Australia, young people have almost one in four strokes.

They often recover well physically, but they still face challenges that are not always easy to see.

Most stroke services focus on older people.

Because of this, many young adults say they do not get the support they need.

Am I eligible for the Young Stroke Service?

To join the Young Stroke Service you must:
Have had a stroke
Be aged 18 to 55 years old
Live in Victoria or South Australia

Joining the Young Stroke Service

Learn about your journey with the Young Stroke Service

Fill out referral form

Ask your health professional to fill out a referral form. Have them send the completed form back to us.

Call with the Young Stroke Service

One of our team members will call you. They will talk about the service with you and answer any questions you have. They will also book your first appointment.

Intake appointment

You will meet with our clinical therapist. The therapist will ask you about your stroke, your symptoms and any treatment you have had.

Connecting you to services

Our team will talk about how we can help you. After that, we will contact you with your options and connect you to services.

Referral into the Young Stroke Service

You need a referral from a health professional to join the Young Stroke Service.
We use this to learn more about you, your stroke and how your health professional thinks we can help you.

You can use our digital platform to:

  • email the referral form to your health professional
  • download the referral form to give it to your health professional
