This study is called Talking Heads. It aims to support young people after stroke.
Many young stroke survivors have hidden problems. These include fatigue, brain fog, changes in relationships, grief, and loss. Some people also struggle to feel hopeful.
We worked with young stroke survivors and their families to create the “Talking Heads information package”. It includes:
- Tip sheets
- Short Videos
- Podcasts
- Online sessions on Zoom
Now we want to see if this program is helpful for young stroke survivors and the people close to them.
Who can join the study?
You can join if:
- You had a stroke between ages 18 and 45
- Your stroke was 1 month to 10 years ago
- You live in Australia. We welcome participants from regional, rural or remote areas.
- You have a device capable of accessing the internet. If you do not have internet access, we can help with that.
- You would like information and support for adjusting to life after stroke.
What is involved in the study?
If you join, you will:
- Fill in online surveys before and after the program
- Use the Talking Heads resources over 12 weeks
- Join up to three online sessions (optional)
- Take part in a short intervew at the end
You can do everything from home.
If you need help with the surveys, our team can assist you.
There is no payment. You will get free access to the program.
Who is running the study?
- Professor Dana Wong leads the study
- Dana works at La Trobe University
- The La Trobe University Human Research Ethics Committee has checked and approved this study.
Note: Professor Dana Wong and Professor Emma Power are members of both the Young Stroke Service team and the Talking Heads team. The two projects are separate. Taking part is your choice. It will not affect your care from the Young Stroke Service in anyway.
